Lime Cordiale is a pop rock group from Australia that was formed in 2009. The group consists of brothers Oli and Louis Leimbach, with additional members James Jennings, Felix Bornholt, and Nicholas Polovineo. The band has released several EPs and albums over the years, with their second album, “14 Steps to a Better You,” released in July 2020, receiving critical acclaim and earning them multiple ARIA Music Awards nominations.
Lime Cordiale started as a duo with the brothers Louis Stanley Leimbach on bass guitar, trumpet, vocals, and kazoo, and Oliver Jay “Oli” Leimbach on guitar, clarinet, and vocals. After Icehouse frontman, Iva Davies discovered them at a band competition, they entered into a mentoring partnership and recorded some tracks. They went on to release several singles and EPs, and played at various live shows and festivals, including Groovin’ the Moo and South by Southwest.
In 2017, the band released their debut studio album, “Permanent Vacation,” which was produced by Dave Hammer and included two singles, “Risky Love” and “Naturally.” The album received positive reviews from critics and peaked at No. 79 on the ARIA albums chart. To promote the album, the band went on a national tour.
In 2019, the band released the singles “Money,” “Inappropriate Behaviour,” and “Robbery,” the latter of which placed at number 7 in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2019. In July 2020, they released their second album, “14 Steps to a Better You,” which debuted at No. 1 on the ARIA charts. The album’s success earned them eight ARIA Music Awards nominations, with the band winning Breakthrough Artist – Release.
In September 2021, Lime Cordiale released the single “Apple Crumble” and announced a collaborative EP with English actor and musician Idris Elba, titled “Cordi Elba.” The EP was released in January 2022 and peaked at number 9 on the ARIA charts. In April 2022, the band released their single “Facts of Life,” and in July, they released “Country Club.”
Lime Cordiale’s music is known for its catchy pop hooks, upbeat melodies, and eclectic blend of genres, including pop, rock, jazz, and more. Their live performances are energetic and engaging, with the Leimbach brothers often switching between instruments and engaging with the audience.
